The Skepchick post this comic refers to occurred ages ago… it seems getting back on the comic horse is taking longer than I hoped it would. I’ve decided there will be one more true BetaPwned comic after this one, just to kind of put a lid on the project that’s been with me for the last couple of years before I move on to Daisies and Shit proper. I don’t know that the writing will change a great deal, but I there are a few mistakes I don’t intend on repeating and I’m looking forward to putting the old ones behind me.

There will be new comics. I don’t know when. Hopefully more sooner than later.

Some stuff is different…

That’s probably going to keep happening. If I change something you don’t like, let me know. I’m not saying that I’ll change it back, of course, but I’d like to know.

In other news – I’d really like to say thanks to all of you that have sent me messages and emails cheering me on and checking on me.

Turns out I have Recurrent Idiopathic Scleritis. It’s not great news… in fact, it pretty well sucks. But, it’s only in the one eye at this point, it’s not the kind of Scleritis that’s going to kill me, and I’m not going to lose any significant vision any time soon.

So, thanks again everyone – it’s really meant a lot. Plow on, eh? *smiles*

I am terrified of flying.

At least I was before I sucked it up and got on the plane last week for Emerald City Comic Con. Once I cleared the hurdle of actually stepping on board the plane I was fine, no problems at all coming back and all looks well for the future.

So – thank you to everyone that listened so nicely to my Twitter whining about having to fly. There should be no more of that.

Next on my list of things to say…

You may notice that I’ve removed all references to any sort of time frame from the site. No more “monthly” this and “weekly” that. I recognize that it’s just damn disrespectful to you all to keep promising things I fail to deliver.

So – no more promises. Please, if you haven’t already, sign up for either the RSS feed or follow my Twitter. It’s the only real way you’ll be kept up to date when new content appears.

In related news, the Passion for Christ Movement also sells an “ex-slave” shirt. While I understand their intention is to declare to the world that they are no longer slaves to their various sinful desires and compulsions, their choice of an African American model for the male shirt is… um… ironic.

Honestly, I’d rather not receive any hate mail over this one.

I just can’t wrap my head around this woman’s need to spread her own genes to that degree. You want babies to love? You want a big family? Fine! Great! There are SO MANY children out there that need a home. Trust me, your genes aren’t so fucking important that the world needs to be flooded with them. Of course, it’s unlikely that an adoption agency would allow a single mother with no apparent means of support to parent 14 children… you know… for some crazy reason. *coughs*

I’m also saddened by the notion that doctors are apparently allowed to literally fill a woman to capacity with babies, yet they’re not allowed to do many forms of nearly risk free body modification. Society is clearly a bit confused as to what can be defined as “destructive behavior”.

In other, less likely to offend someone, news – this month’s contest will be extended through March due to complete impossibility. There was a mix up with the site map graphic that makes some pages on the site completely inaccessible – and there are answers on those pages.

My minion will be making an announcement when the new site map is functional, so no more complaining that you can’t find the answers.

Welcome Back!

First of all, I would like to thank those of you that sent me emails wishing me well and just giving me general support. It really, really, meant a lot to me to know that you were pulling for me and would still be here as readers when I started posting again. As it turns out, the nerve damage is permanent so I’ll never regain full feeling in my right hand. Kind of sucks, but that means there’s no real point in resting it any more, so back in the saddle we go!

Secondly, you may have noticed there have been some serious changes. I’m not going to go over all of them here, that would be long winded even for me, but here are a few of the bigger ones:

1 – The content of BetaPwned, while not porn by any means, is likely to be a bit more adult from now on. This comic has always been about my life, I am an adult, and frankly I’m just a tad tired of censoring out those aspects that might be a bit embarrassing, sexual, or… unconventional perhaps? Again, not porn, but this might be a good time for my family members to find another nice comic to read. I’ll be sure to send you the cute ones by email. *smiles*

2 – The title graphic at the top of the page will now change with each update. For the most part it’ll just be me attempting to be funny, but sometimes I’ll place important announcements there so they’re less likely to be missed.

3 – The Dear Diary strips will soon be moved to their own archive.

4 – Below the comic’s blog post you’ll find information on the monthly contest and a safe-for-work thumbnail of the monthly pin-up. The Pin-Ups, aside from being a bit of fun, also double as donation incentives and will be available in both digital and print formats. The contest rules will be spelled out in the Forum each month – be sure to let me know if you have any ideas!

5 – The Wednesday Webcomic Weview is once again up and running, and can now be found at wednesdaywebcomicweview.com.

6 – Lastly, I’ve got a new hired gun who will be helping me out by managing the RSS feed, monitoring the forum, and generally picking up what I let slip though my fingers. So if you notice that your BetaPwned experience seems less flaky than before, know that you have Hans to thank.

Are you ready?

The annual 24 Hour Comic Challenge is bearing down upon us like a cranky, caffeine charged baboon.

I get that McCain is trying.

Specifically – he’s trying to show that he’s a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-the-job-done kind of guy, but ditching the debates (especially after the Palin hide-and-seek with the media game they’ve been playing) seems more like running away than leading.

Might take a bit to really get it down, but I’m working on it!
